SWSRA Day Camp Goals
GENERAL PURPOSE FOR SWSRA DAY CAMP
To provide a recreational and an educational experience for all children with special needs through a comprehensive out-of-doors program. SWSRA Day Camps provide a structured environment in which to enjoy productive leisure activities. To the campers, the best things about Day Camp are swimming, friends, and the counselors. While these are very important, parts of the friend, and the counselors. While these are very important parts of the program, many equally important goals are met through Day Camp participation.
- To improve each child’s motor skills and physical fitness;
- To improve each child’s swimming ability;
- To encourage each child to play with other children and to make new friends;
- To help children retain their school year academic skills through activities that aid in increased attention span, fine motor skills, language skills, and self-expression;
- To help children learn what recreation activities and facilities are available in SWSRA area and to help them to learn to enjoy recreational activities;
- To provide daily experiences that help each child feel successful and good about themselves;
- To create, stimulate, and develop interest in the world around them by increasing their awareness of the environment;
- To improve socialization skills by developing peer relationships, and encouraging meaningful relationships with adult leaders;
- To promote the value of education in a recreational setting;
- To increase the public awareness of special populations through community activities.

Transportation
Daily door-to-door transportation is provided for day camp if desired. Transportation is provided on first come, first serve, basis.
